The stadium is named after first Prime Minister of India, Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru. This stadium is the main venue for the CommonWealth Games Delhi 2010.

Ferozshah Kotla Stadium

It is the hosting ground major cricketing tournaments in Delhi, Feroz Shah Kotla was built in 1883 at the request of local people, and first staged a Test match in 1948. In 1999, Anil Kumble took all ten wickets against Pakistan here, only the second man in Test history to do so.
Ferozshah kotla stadium was named after emperor Ferozshah Toghlaq.
